Determinants of Keloid recurrence: The Nairobi keloid recurrence scoring system; A cohort, prospective study

Keloid disease is a fibro-proliferative disorder characterized by excessive deposition of collagen. Keloids has shown high recurrence rate. We undertook this study to determine what factors influence the with aim developing keloid scoring system. This was cohort prospective longitudinal patients who presented keloids, managed surgical excision followed post radiotherapy. Post-surgery were up for at least two years recurrence. Variables analyzed included patients’ history, clinical presentation and histology. Data captured using SPSS version 21. Student T-test Chi-square test used compare means frequencies respectively 95% confidence level (P-Value <0.05). Multi regression analysis done contributions various variables Ninety in duration years. Overall 21% male having significantly higher rate 31% compared female 12%. The rates also familial keloids 27.7% sporadic 18.5%. Other that influenced anatomical location, patient's blood group histological composition keloid. Multiple demonstrated gender family history biggest contributor many including A system encompassing these could assist determination management as well prediction likelihood
